A passionate ambition for heart centred change

Hi, I'm Rachel Saliba, the founder and creative director of intoimages and Practically Learning. I have a passion for developing new ideas to inspire and create positive changes to working and learning environments.

I began my design career in 1994 as a junior designer and quickly worked my way up to become Senior Designer and Production Manager.

In 2001 I realised my entrepreneurial dream and began intoimages as Manager, Creative Director and Brand Development Consultant.

Over many years, I have consulted with various organisations to assist them in understanding their brand, their community and how to communicate their unique message effectively with a specific audience.

During my time working in the design business, I developed various new initiatives to improve the culture of business and education, to strengthen understanding of the culture of organisations for the benefit of all involved, including staff and their customers.

I have a personal interest in human centred design and see the benefit of understanding human nature, behaviours, needs and desires as an essential skill when communicating visual messages and improving the culture of an organisation.

Design has many and varied possibilities for me and I have used these skills throughout my career as an analyst, a visionary, an educator, a person with deep empathy and understanding of human behaviours to assist in my creative endeavours and entrepreneurial spirit.

I developed a passion for education after experiencing the school system with my own children and teaching and facilitating at Victoria University in Melbourne.

This experience increased my awareness of the need for children to be more supported in their learning when I discovered that many of the young people were struggling to complete simple tasks. It peaked my interest in supporting children in their learning and ensuring each individual student's strengths were discovered and nurtured.

I am dedicated to ensuring a better future for all children and am endeavouring to create change through my skills and a compassionate approach. More recently I was a guest lecturer for pre-service teachers at Australian Catholic University, Melbourne where I provided a unique perspective for future teachers on learning at home and the importance for children of connecting families and schools.

As an advocate for children, I work with school Principals, teachers and parents to improve relationships and communication, improving links between home and school to ensure that children have the opportunity to stay connected with their families and are supported on their learning journey. Whilst I am passionate about helping all children, I am first and foremost a mother to three of my own children and a supporter of mental health and wellbeing initiatives for young people through the Kidsmatter and Mind Matters organisations. I have featured in many of the promotional videos produced by Kidsmatter to increase awareness of the framework and its importance in the lives of children and their families.

I am currently an active member of the Victorian Catholic Schools Parent Body advocating for educational change and parent engagement in Victorian schools.

I am a supporter of research for brain cancer as it is a disease that affects many young children and young adults. My work for Party for a Cure on behalf of the Cure for Life Foundation has assisted in raising awareness and much needed funding for research.
